Sun Peaks Resort, located in beautiful British Columbia, is a fantastic place to spend a winter vacation-whether you ski, snowboard, or just want to relax in a winter wonderland-Sun Peaks is the perfect destination for you.

It has become common practice when traveling to seek out a hotel for travel accommodations. I can understand the allure; the ease of booking, the room service, and the little fridge stocked with (expensive) goodies. But are these features really worth the cost?

Considering it is much easier now than ever before to book owner-direct vacation rentals in Sun Peaks, why not consider reserving a Sun Peaks chalet and get an entire private property for you and your company to explore and enjoy? The following tips will explain how you can easily and effortlessly find and book a Sun Peaks chalet, get more, and spend less!

Find a Great Vacation Rental Website
Quickly search through lots of options and find exactly what you want!

The first trick to finding your dream Sun Peaks chalet is to find a great listing website with lots of options to compare properties. It’s also important to find a site that has a good search engine that can narrow down to find exactly what amenities you want-one of the best reasons to get a chalet is all the amenities you can enjoy privately with your friends, such as: hot tub, pool table, full kitchen, and backyard!

How to Book Your Perfect Sun Peaks Chalet
Follow these steps and save huge!

A common misconception about booking a Sun Peaks chalet is that it will be expensive-not so! In fact there are many ways in which can help you save a bundle.

Owner-Direct. The best way to save money is to find an owner-direct vacation rental and reserve your Sun Peaks chalet directly with them. Booking through property management companies can be costly because the company needs to make a cut, as well as the owner. If you book directly with the owners you cut out the middleman and save on commission fees.

Extend Your Stay. Another money saving tip is to consider a longer trip and pay less per night. You may be able to get your nightly rate impressively low if you book your stay for 7+ nights. Especially when you book owner-direct, property owners love longer bookings because it’s less work for them, therefore, they may offer extended stay discounts, passing the savings on to you.

Travel With Friends. One of the best reasons to book a Sun Peaks chalet is to enjoy it with a large group of people such as your family and friends; this also translates to a cheaper nightly per person rate. Chalets are generally rented as complete units, so if you have three people staying there, or 13 people, the per-night cost remains the same. So gather a group of your closest friends and relatives, enjoy your vacation together, and you could walk away paying substantially less than a hotel!

Avoid Peak Times. If you book a property before December 19th or in March, chances are you’re going to score something cheap! The snow is still good and the hills aren’t so crowded either, so you can enjoy your private Sun Peaks chalet for less and take advantage of all that extra space on the mountain.

Book Early. If you would rather take a trip during the holidays be sure to book your Sun Peaks chalet early. The holidays are more expensive for a reason: everyone wants to get out and ski! Make sure to plan your trip well in advance and book your chalet with plenty of time. This way you won’t be scrambling for a place to stay. And if you book early you may be able to avoid unforeseen price hikes. As well, if you know your vacations dates in the summer or early fall you can take advantage of the cheap early bird lift ticket pricing.

Are you in the market for a new handheld GPS? Or thinking of upgrading your old GPS to a new model? If so, you will need to take care to consider more than just the bells and whistles that come with the receiver. Make a better choice with this list of seven tips.

Every year, GPS receivers have more functions and become more powerful. But does that make them a more practical sailing navigation tool in the real world of sun, salt, spray? Take the time to go through this list before you plunk down your cruising dollars on your next handheld nautical GPS.

1. Locate it near the helm

Mount your unit as close to the helm as possible. This way, the steerer can easily see the speed over ground, bearing and range to next waypoint, and highway function.

2. Make it as high as possible

Crystal displays tend to be difficult to read at low angles. Mount the unit higher to make it easy to read in all light conditions.

3. Check the vertical alignment

GPS antennas must point straight up toward the sky in order to receive the full satellite signal. Install a bracket that swivels in the vertical plane so that you can adjust the receiver antenna when heeled over.

4. Clear the path above

Can you mount the unit where dodgers or awnings don’t get in the way? These block signal reception. Use an external antenna mounted on the stern pulpit to solve this problem.

5. Install a 12V socket

Carry plenty of spare batteries. Install a 12 volt socket, wired to the house battery. This gives you full power without the worry of battery changes.

6. Test ease of use

Find a unit with large keypad button and clear function keys that are easier on your eyes. Can you see the display in dim light or in the dark? Can you adjust it in bright sunlight so that you can still see the readout?

7. Waterproof or not?

Most GPS receivers need protection from any spray. They might be advertised as water resistant, but what does that mean? On a small cruising boat, they will always operate in a wet atmosphere. In inclement marine weather, enclose the unit with a plastic bag. Keep rain and spray off of the receiver to increase its life span.

Use these seven chart navigation secrets to help you select a handheld nautical GPS that will give you great performance in the tough marine environment. You will gain more satisfaction when you choose an electronic sailing navigation tool that’s easy to use and read in all conditions.

Sailors, like other people, prognosticate winds and weather from the behavior of various birds and beasts, but they go a little farther than the rest of mankind in ascribing actual control of the elements to these creatures. The Ancient Mariner was reviled by his shipmates for shooting the albatross, “That made the breeze to blow.” We are indebted to the seamen of antiquity for the belief that kingfishers cast a spell upon the deep, so that calm weather prevails during the “halcyon days,” about the time of the winter solstice. Old salts still object to the presence of a cat on board ship, because she “carries a gale in her tail.” Clergymen are unpopular.

Sailors have not ceased to whistle for a wind, though the custom is less general than it was a century ago. Basil Hall, writing in 1811 of a calm at sea, says: “One might have thought that the ship was planted in a grove of trees, so numerous were the whistlers.” Scratching the mast is another superstitious method, not yet extinct, of raising a breeze. Some nautical authorities say the foremast should be chosen for this operation; others prescribe the mizzen.

Still another wind-raising process is to stick a knife in the mast, with the handle pointing in the direction from which the wind is desired to blow. At sea there are two distinct systems of describing the direction of the wind, while on land there is but one. The method common to sea and shore is to name the point of the compass from which it blows; but nine times out of ten the mariner prefers to indicate its direction with reference to the course of the ship-as “wind abaft, ” or “on the port beam,” and the like.

On land the force of a wind is commonly expressed in miles per hour (or meters per second outside of English-speaking countries). Sailors almost universally use the Beaufort Scale, in which there are 13 degrees, ranging from 0 (calm) to 12 (hurricane). In estimating the wind according to this scale due allowance must be made for the motion of the ship, and accuracy is attained only through long practice. The appearance of the surface of the sea; is a great aid in the process.

One result of the substitution of steam-power for sails is that fog has become a much graver danger to navigation than it was a few generations ago. In foggy weather there is generally little wind. Hence sailing craft automatically slow down when they enter a fog, and when sails were universal collisions in a fog were very rare. A steamer is under no such natural limitations.

Luxury yacht charter is quite simply chartering a luxury yacht. It might be a luxury motor yacht charter or a luxury sailing yacht charter, but either way it is chartering what is considered a luxury boat. Luxury by its definition has to be a yacht from the top end of the market.

Luxury yacht is really a general term covering a whole range of boats with no real standard as to what is luxury and what is not. If luxury is relative to size, value and building costs then the most luxurious yachts in the world will be the biggest ones owned by some of the richest people in the world. In contrast the owner of a top of the range sixty feet sailing yacht will also consider his boat luxurious if it contains everything that you could possibly build into such a yacht.

Luxury yachts have their roots after the first world war when wealthy individuals realized the advantages and esteem of owning large private yachts. An early example was the Savarona, launched in 1931 and later acquired by the Turkish Government. After the second world war, a famous luxury motor yacht appeared when the Christina O was converted from a Canadian frigate.

Early luxury sailing yachts were those classed as J class and used for competing in the Americas Cup sailing competition. One of the most famous was the Shamrock owned by the tea magnate Sir Thomas Lipton, and only a few were ever constructed. They were owned by wealthy people who lived a luxurious life style on or away from the yacht.

Over the last thirty years there has been a big increase in large luxury yachts which are owned by oil sheiks and wealthy new technology business owners such as Bill Gates. Having said that luxury does not have to be about big, a wealthy stock broker would be just as proud of his eighty foot sailing yacht as Roman Abramovich is of his 557 foot, $450 million mega yacht.

If you are considering a luxury yacht charter then think money, as this is what you will need, and lots of it. These boats are just the same as hotels or cars, you pay what you can afford and you get what you pay for. You can have as much fun chartering a cheaper yacht without the fittings of a luxury one but you will not be pampered as much.

Some luxury yachts are used exclusively by their owners and guests, others are operated all year round as charter businesses by boat owning businesses, also a large number are privately owned but available for charter when the owner is not using it. Charter rates vary tremendously from a an eighty foot boat with two crew to a mega yacht with twenty crew. However one thing is common across all ranges of yachts, the daily charter rate is only the start of your expenses. Extras of approximately 25-30%, such as fuel, drinks, food and berthing fees are additional to the day rate as well as a customary 15-20% crew gratuity for good service.

The luxury yacht charter industry works effectively because private yacht owners and charter yacht owners offset their costs with charter income as well as well as keeping their yachts in good order and well manned from this income. Conversely, yacht charterers charter their boats as and when required as it is less expensive than owning and maintaining a yacht and equally important it gives them the choice to choose different yachts in different parts of the world.

Yacht charter is becoming ever more popular. Luxury yacht charter may be only for the very wealthy but yacht charter is within reach of many more people these days. Visit yachtcharterreview.com for more information.
