Summer Sun Burns Himachal Pradesh
The mercury continued to rise across the mountainous state of Himachal Pradesh Saturday, recording temperatures five to 10 degrees higher than average. In some areas, it crossed 43 degrees Celsius.
State capital Shimla recorded a high of 29.6 degrees Celsius, 10 notches above average. The maximum temperature remained above average by five to 10 degrees in the state Saturday,” Manmohan Singh, director of the meteorological office here, told IANS.
He said Una town, located on the Punjab border, was the hottest at 43.2 degrees Celsius. Dharamsala, the venue of the Indian Premier League (IPL) match between Kings XI Punjab and Chennai Super Kings Sunday, recorded 35.6 degrees Celsius, seven notches above average. Sundernagar in Mandi district recorded a maximum of 39.9 degrees Celsius, Bhuntar in Kullu district – 35.2 degrees, and Kalpa in Kinnaur district – 23.7 degrees. (more…)
